As a new citizen, your avatar is provided with simple level 1 clothing (citizens without a Premium Account always wear level 1 clothing). You can upgrade your clothing to a magnificent garment, all the way up to level 15. The clothing represents your character in your fellow citizens' chat windows and in the games. Therefore, your clothing is also a sign of your success in the Catan Online World.

Certain buildings can only be entered with good clothing. For example, only with stylish level 3 attire will you be allowed into the Bathhouse. The better your clothing, the more attentively are you treated at the Bank, and with clothing level 8 and up you can trade resources at a better rate.

To upgrade your clothing, you have to visit the Tailor Shop.

Click on the Merchant there and select the option “Upgrade Clothing.” A window appears displaying the required resources for upgrading your clothing. If you have the requested resources, you can go ahead and pay them. Each purchase counts towards your success in the Citizen List, and if you have the "Active Citizen" status, your clothing also contributes culture points (divided by the city's "Active Citizen value") to the city's culture value.
