The General Store can be found at the center of the city. In exchange for coins, the Merchant will give all kinds of interesting goods (see Coin Trader). Click on him, and he will offer you his goods. You can leave the building through the door.

Pets

Every citizen of the Catan Online World can buy a pet. Once purchased, the pet will follow you everywhere. It is displayed when you are in the city layout and also in the games, where it shares the emotions of its owner. A pet must be fed once per week. The General Store also sells pet food; food costs are different for each pet. A pet cannot die of starvation, but as long as it is not fed, it is displayed in a deplorable state. Every pet has its own lifespan; if it is exceeded, the pet dies a natural death.

Garden Expansion

The Merchant also offers many things you can embellish your property with. Depending on the current season (summer or winter period), you can choose between trees, flowers, and objects such as hedges or a park bench. Once you have bought them, the plants and objects last until the end of the current game period.

Each plant and each garden object counts towards the city's culture value and, therefore, matters for the contest for the title "Capital of Catan." The current value of each plant or object depends on the city's culture value (average number of Premium users during the last 4 weeks - see The Contest Between Cities - Culture Points).

In order to embellish your garden, select the item “Garden” from the Merchant menu. In the window that opens up, you can see your property. Via the buttons above the display of your house, you can switch back and forth between the three groups (Trees, Flowers, Other). You can also scroll through the items display using the arrow buttons.

Your credit and the costs of the currently placed items are shown on the left side. A total of 30 items may be accommodated.

Select the desired item by clicking on it. If you now move the cursor around within your property (marked off by the white rectangle), the selected item is sticking to the cursor and can thus be placed on the desired spot.

Important: For technical reasons, plants and objects cannot be placed within the area at the center of the property. This area appears shaded, as shown in the illustration on the right. If you build up your own house, garden object in the backyard could also be covered by the house.

You can click on “Cancel” at any time, and all changes will be canceled. If you click on “Save,” you accept the current changes; a click on “Reset” restores the original status before the last save.

Garden Master

The 15 Catan Online World citizens with the largest gardens (sum of all expenses for the garden; in case of a tie, the total time of the Premium membership tips the scales - longer = better) at the end of the game period receive the title "Garden Master" (garden medal); they will keep it for the entire next game period. The current ranking list is displayed in the chart "Citizen List" in the Town Hall. You can also view your current position in this list in the chart "Player Titles."
