Catan Online World - Resources, Trade, and Achievements

Just as in the Board Game, resources are indispensable in the Catan Online World too. You can use them for paying the masons to upgrade your own house or perform expansions in your hometown, or for buying new clothes from the tailor.

Every day at 7 p.m. CET you receive a new resource, which is displayed in your Resources window. The resources are ore, brick, grain, wool, and lumber. The type of resource you get is determined randomly, but it is likely for you to receive resources with affinity to your chosen profession. That way, if you are a farmer, you will rather receive grain and less frequently lumber or ore.

You also obtain resources if you participate in the games that take place in the Taverns. If you have participated in at least one game during one week (the new week starts Sunday night at 12 p.m. CET, +/- 30 minutes), you receive one resource; if you have participated in at least 5 games, you get yet another resource.

But winning is rewarded too! If, during one week (see above), you win at least one game, you're awarded one resource, and if you win 3 games during one week, you’ll obtain yet another resource. It would be wise, however, to first upgrade your own house and thus increase its storage capacity.

Gold

As in real life, gold is a very special resource and shouldn’t be confused with the coins you can get from the Coin Trader. You receive gold in special cases only, for example when winning a tournament. A maximum of 25 gold can be stored by every player. At the Bank, gold can always be exchanged for any other resource at a 1:1 rate.

Trade

Sometimes you may lack certain resources to buy something in particular. In this case, it is advisable that you visit either the Bank (see City Expansions - Bank) or the Market Square at the center of the city and trade resources with the Merchants there (see City Expansions - Market Square) or with fellow citizens who may be around (see Trade).

Pay attention to your fellow citizens’ nametag colors! The colors tell you their profession. For example, the nametag of a farmer is yellow. If you happen to be in dire need for grain, you should approach a farmer.

Trade between players can only be performed at a 1:1 rate.

The details of how to trade is described in the section "Operations".

Citizen List

Each citizen of the Catan Online World who has reached the end of a game period receives a title for the next game period. For that purpose, there is a so-called Citizen List for each city where the players' achievements are recorded. In this context, each resource you spend for the City Guard, city expansion, expansion of your own house, or upgrading your clothing is worth 10 points. For each coin spent, you receive 1 point.

At the end of a game period, the titles for the next period are awarded. The COW city where you stayed last is important for title awarding. In case of a tie, the total time of the players' COW Premium membership tips the scales (the longer, the better).

User without any points in the Citizen List get the title "Vagabond."

The distribution is as follows:
