On Tuesday, October 8 at 12 noon CEST, the titles and achievements of the current game period will be calculated and awarded. The period ends at that point. On the following day, the revised version of the Metagame begins. Here is more information on this topic:

On the following day (Wednesday, October 9), after the daily server restart, the revised Metagame begins, at which point the players' houses are reset to level 1 and their clothing to level 2. Houses already on level 1 before the reset will be removed. So, if you want to keep your building site, you should upgrade to at least level 2 before that date.

Initially, each player receives 3 starting resources; in addition, the count for the weekly bonus resources starts anew. This means that you can once again receive bonus resources for games played and games won. The monthly lists for the games will continue as normal.

A couple of weeks ago, we published the concept for the revised Metagame. We would like to address three aspects of it in more detail:

1) The costs and service lives of assets have been modified one more time, to make it easier for players to upgrade their house, clothing, and garden. Now, house and clothing levels don't expire until after 5 weeks. Flowers cost 3 coins and last 5 weeks, trees and other garden objects cost 6 coins and last 10 weeks. Despite this modification, though, you'll still have to plan your spending in order to actually reach the highest level for your house, clothing, and garden.

2) Regarding the tournaments, it is important to emphasize that they will not only include Catan board games but all games available on PlayCatan. Also, the average of all games of a player is important for the final score, not just the sum of the points obtained. The latter was not expressed clearly in the aforementioned document. As always, in The Rivals for Catan tournaments the victory points (plus a potential victory bonus) are taken into account for the score. Furthermore, we refrain from distributing the medals over various tournaments. Particularly for the Rivals tournaments, the distribution of medals over various tournaments would mean that a player might not receive a gold medal until after 1.5 years. Instead, for each tournament the medals are now awarded anew. In this case, the top 2% of the ranking list receive a gold medal, the top 4% receive a silver medal, and the top 8% receive a bronze medal (of course, only if they haven't received a better medal yet). Should there be fewer than 50 participants, only the 1st, 2nd, and 3rd places receive the corresponding medals. However, the gold is distributed as always (1-10: 3 gold, 11-25: 2 gold, 26-50: 1 gold), so as to reward the willingness to participate in a tournament.

Ultimately, the course of the future tournaments on PlayCatan isn't carved in stone, and adaptations and modifications may definitely be made at a later moment. Entirely different tournament modes are also conceivable.

3) In the future, it will be possible to build more than 150 houses in a city. Due to technical reasons, however, for the time being houses in excess of 150 will not be displayed in the city layout.

A revised guide to the Metagame is online.
