|Turn-Timer for Catan Boardgames in the Premium Area|
|Tuesday, 28 August 2012 17:47|
Eleven month ago a turn timer was installed in the free area of the game manager to keep the games moving along, and to reduce the number of "stalled" games (when players do not end their turn intentionally and the whole game is delayed). The timer stands the test in the free area and in the last survey a clear majority of users vote for implementing the turn timer in the premium-area as well. So, the turn timer will be available there from as of September 4, 2012. For now the timer will only be available in the Catan boardgames excluding Multi-Catan and Troy.
Because also a not so small group of users (but still a clear minority) still wanted to keep the current solution, we decided to implement the timer as an option (Default: Timer is active with 180 seconds - Exception: Games with the team play option, where the timer is deactivated as a default). So, the host can decide if the timer shall be active and how long a turn may take (120, 150 or 180 seconds) then.If a player has not finished his turn 30 seconds before the given time limit runs out, a warning will appear explaining that the turn must end in 30 seconds. After the 30 seconds elapse, the other players decide through a vote whether or not to kick out the player who is no longer responding. The normal function to vote out a player without a timer will not be available if the timer option is active.
Please note: Because of an error the option was made available today. Because it is still being tested, the function will be removed again until next week for the planed release. We apologize for the confusion this may have caused.
